Sharing your child's progress
📚 How We Share Your Child’s Progress: A Yearly Overview
Research shows the best way to help children make progress is by giving them direct feedback on their work, and to share how they can improve while they’re learning.
Our staff already do this through marking work, asking questions and giving feedback during lessons. However, this can be improved by encouraging children to take ownership of their learning next steps and helping them think about how they can plan and improve their work.
Supporting parents and carers to understand what their child is skilled at and what they need to do to improve is also helpful. We have therefore planned a feedback programme to make sure you have the information you need throughout the academic year.
Each year, teachers formally review and analyse each child’s progress three times a year, at the end of terms 2, 4 and 6. Progress is reviewed in reading, writing and maths through a combination of learning in class and a short assessment. Please note that any assessments are carried out in a relaxed way and your child should not feel that they are being ‘tested’.
If a pupil isn’t working at the expected milestone or where they should be based on their own individual targets, interventions are planned to provide extra support. Where a pupil is taking part in an intervention, feedback will be provided to parents through a form sent to parents every term reviewing their progress and sharing next steps.
If any concerns about your child arise that you haven’t already been informed of their teacher will contact you immediately rather than waiting for a report or consultation.
We believe in working closely with you to support your child’s learning. Here is how and when we’ll keep you informed throughout the school year:
