Physical development

This area has two goals:

  • Gross Motor Skills
  • Fine Motor Skills

Young children need to be physically active and to develop motor skills. This area of the curriculum encourages the use of the indoor and outdoor environment to promote mobility, control, awareness of space and manipulative skills. It develops the fine motor skills to form recognisable letters and numbers with good pencil grip and control as well as using one-handed tools such as scissors with precision.
