Our Environment
At Chailey St Peters we firmly believe in the environment being the third teacher in which we recognise the physical space as a significant factor in a child's learning. We are extremely fortunate in having both an extensive indoor and outdoor environment which has thoughtfully being designed in line with the principles of the curiosity approach. We aim to create home from home feel where children feel warmth and secure. We use natural, open-ended and often real life resources which allow children to experience new things and become curious thinkers. We create a calm, secure and purposeful atmosphere where children can develop lively, enquiring, open minds through exploratory play.
Our learning space includes:
- A woodwork workshop
- A sensory kitchen
- An independent bake station
- An indoor sandpit
- An extensive water area with working pump
- An outdoor stage
