As part of your child’s curriculum and the development of ICT skills, we provide access to the internet only in teacher supervised lessons. We strongly believe that the use of the web and email is hugely worthwhile and an essential tool for children as they grow up in the modern world. But because there are always concerns about children having access to undesirable materials, we have taken positive steps to deal with this risk in school. Our school internet access provider operates a filtering system that restricts access to inappropriate materials. 

 

E-Safety will be taught throughout the Computing curriculum but also in PSHE sessions looking at ways for children to stay safe online.

Parents of pupils in KS1 are asked to sign Responsible Internet Use permission slips on behalf of their children to use the internet and have work published on the school website.  Parents of KS2 children are also asked to sign the Responsible Internet Use permission slip and KS2 pupils also sign and agree to follow the rules too.

We plan E-Safety topics termly for every year group and have focused regular school assemblies on how to keep safe. At St Peter's we recognise that while parents/carers have the responsibility to monitor their children's use of the internet and related communication technologies safely in the home, issues that arise at home may impact on relationships in school.  Where this occurs, we aim to work in partnership with parents/carers to ensure children develop their understanding of the importance of e-safety.
